My fingers brush the smooth cool pawn, I embrace my move knowing that this could make or break the chess game. My opponent Quentin, over one thousand rating points nearly twice as tall as me, and I don’t stand a chance .we make our move over and over like a sea saw going up and down. The tension builds every move. Every minute counts till someone is crowned champion.


Then I hear a voice
“If you make the right move you can claim victory.” Those words stuck in my head like super glue. I make my move knowing that I have claimed victory…




But there’s only one thing I wish it been a rating game.

A smile runs up my face, but I know I should show good sportsmanship. I enclose my fingers on the cool metal handle , and head out to the car in the night
